  • What is Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)?
  • ESC is the downward adjustment of individual scores in order to make handicaps more representative of a player’s “potential” ability. The ESC procedure sets a maximum score that a player can post on any hole depending on the players COURSE handicap. ESC is used only when a player’s actual or most likely score exceeds her maximum number based on the table below:

    Handicap

    Maximum strokes per hole

    0 to 9

    Double Bogey

    10 to 19

    7 strokes

    20 to 29

    8 strokes

    30 to 39

    9 strokes

    40+

    10 strokes

For handicap purposes, if you pick up on a hole, you should record the score you most likely would have made if you continued to play the hole ― not the score you usually make on that hole. There is no limit to the number of holes on which a player may adjust her score.

  • What do the Search Zip Code and Radius features do on the myGame page?
  • The "Search Zip Code" will populate the "Find Other Players", "Club News", "Upcoming Events", "My Events" and "Weather" modules with applicable public content from eClubhouse sites within a "Radius" of X mile from the center point of the Zip Code you provide. The radius default is 1.0.

Great to use when planning a golfing vacation! Find out news and events from the area you are visiting! Connect with a golfer from the area and meet up for a round of golf!

To change the Search Zip Code and populate your dashboard with content from another area, simply click the numerical Zip Code (located above the USGA Handicap Index module). Enter the new Zip Code and press "Submit". When you return from your trip - just change it back to your local Zip Code!

You can change the radius (i.e. reduce or increase the range of news/events) by using the radius drop-down box and modifying the setting.

  • I was just added to eClubhouse and posted three scores to GHIN - where is my H.I.?
  • Your Handicap Index® is updated according to a revision schedule set by the regional golf association in your area. The Handicap Index display in the Members section is a snapshot of scores that were in your scoring record prior to that effective revision date. So, if you were added on June 10, but the last revision in your area was June 5, then no Handicap Index® will appear on eClubhouse until after the next revision.

In addition, your club can only issue you a Handicap Index® after at least five scores have been posted, in accordance with the USGA Handicap System.

  • I just entered a score using "Post to GHIN" through my club's eClubhouse site, but I made a mistake. How do I fix it?
  • Your golf club oversees your scoring record and Handicap Index® If you make a mistake, you need to contact a representative from your club to correct the error.

  • I just entered a score using "myStats Scores", but I made a mistake. How do I fix it?
  • Any score posted using the eClubhouse feature "myStats Scores" can be edited on eClubhouse. However, if "Post Scores to GHIN" was chosen when the score was posted, the score will have to be changed in your record on the GHIN Server as well by contacting your Golf Club.

To modify a score in eClubhouse, use the "Display/Update Rounds" option in "myStats Reports". Locate the score to be modified and chose "edit".

  • What are the PAWGC Local Rules?
  • PAWGC Local Rules

    1.     When the tees are on the left side (hitting over the water on hole #11) and you hit your ball into the water, you may:

    a.     Hit from the "Drop Area" on the right side of the water near the last red stake and the player will incur a penalty of two strokes and be hitting stroke #4.

    b.    Or after hitting in the water, you may hit again from the teeing ground and the ball may be teed again. The player will incur a penalty of one stroke and be hitting stroke #3.

    2.     Year-round “Winter Rules” are in effect, i.e. you are allowed to mark, lift, and clean the ball without penalty through the green. Before lifting, you must mark the position of the ball. The player must then place the ball on a spot within 6 inches of its original spot and no closer to the hole. The ball may not be moved out of any hazard or on a putting green. A player may place the ball only once, and it is in play when it has been placed.

If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it or moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, they incur a penalty of one stroke.

  • What are the Player's Responsibilities?
  • Responsibilities of All Players

Golf is a game of integrity and it is the responsibility of all members to play by the rules and to post sores for all rounds played. It is your responsibility to know the basic rules of golf.  Each member is encouraged to purchase the USGA Rules book, sold in the Pro Shop.

Tee times will be emailed each week prior to Thursday.  You may email the Co-Captain to be added to the list. After publication of tee times, email the Co-Captain if you wish to cancel or be added to the list. Cancellations or additions made after noon on Wednesday must be called in to the Pro Shop. New times and move-ups will be assigned on the day of play by the starters.

All active members are required to serve as a Starter or Scorer as scheduled throughout the year to remain in good standing. It is the responsibility of all Starters and Scorers to fulfill their appointed duties. If unable to do so, you must find a replacement and notify the Co-Captain of the changes.

    Thursday Morning Procedures

Starters please arrive early, pick up locker keys from Pro Shop, gather all materials needed, and open the desk no later than 7:45am. All Players must check in and be ready to play 30 minutes prior to your assigned tee time, but no later than 8:30 am, when the desk closes.  If you are not present and checked in 30 minutes prior to your tee time or before 8:30, your tee time will be re-assigned to another "move up" player and you will be moved to a later open tee time. If you arrive after 8:30 and the check-in desk is closed, check with the pro shop to see if there is room for you in the last group. If all groups are full, you will not be able to play that day. If you do play, you must pay your sweeps to the scorers when you turn in your scorecard.  These procedures are in effect for all play days, even if there is a frost delay or possible rain. If you do not wish to play on any play day, please call the pro shop to cancel.   No exceptions.

    Thursday After Golf Procedures

Scorers please pick-up keys from the Pro Shop, gather all materials needed, and be ready as soon as possible after completing your round, or just after the first group is finished.  All Players, only two scorecards per foursome are required unless otherwise noted for some tournaments. Please make sure both scorecards match, are signed, dated, and attested before you turn them over to the scoring desk after play. Remember to write your chip-ins and birdies in the book provided; that information will not be transferred to the book by the scorers. Be sure to post your scores in the Pro Shop or online every time you play.

Partnership EC is normally scheduled in the spring, with sign-up sheets available in early March.  Play consists of two person teams. (Players must be within 7 Handicap shots of each other.  In other words a Handicap 23 cannot team up with a Handicap 32.) Santa Clara County Team Play: One of the features of the SCCWGA (Santa Clara County Women’s Golf Association) is the annual match play, a 3-month competition that pits teams of 8 golfers, from each of the participating clubs in the county, at neutral county golf courses. After playing each of the rival clubs in head to head match play competition, a net point and gross point champion is determined by total score over all the matches. This is a fun, yet competitive tournament rivaling the likes of the Ryder and Walker Cups when it comes down to the pride of representing your club. See the Team Play Captain, Kay Sabin, if you are interested in playing.

Trophy Day (first Thursday of each month) is an individual Low Net and Low Putts competition, flighted by handicaps. The club treasury contributes the winnings for the Trophy Day winner or a PAWGC Medallion for first time winners and ties will be broken.
